New England Aster

New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae)

The New England aster is an herbaceous perennial plant, meaning that it is an herb that lasts for three seasons. It is also known as the Michaelmas daisy. Asters are found almost everywhere in North America west of the Rocky Mountains, with the exception of the deep north of Canada and some places in the south of the United States. Their beautiful color, with a bright yellow center disk surrounded by petals varying from deep purple to white, has made them a very popular plant among gardeners and flower arrangers.
