Honey Suckle

Honey Suckle

Honey suckle (Lonicera periclymenum):

Honeysuckle is an understory shrub of edges, waste areas, and hedgerows. The flowers which bloom from springtime till late summer are fragrant and a source of nectar for bees and other pollinating insects.  The flowers come in a pale white and then in a creamy yellow.  The yellow flowers are the ones that have already been pollinated and are closing down for seed and fruit development.  You can pull the center blossoms out of the flower and find a very tiny droplet of nectar.  If your tongue is young you can get a very tiny sweet treat.
