Welcome to The Odd Pet Vet!
The Odd Pet Vet offers affordable expert care for feathered, scaled, and furry patients. We are conveniently located at New England Wildlife Center (NEWC), minutes from Route 3 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.
The Odd Pet Vet is the only exclusively exotic animal veterinary clinic in Massachusetts. We have a 4.9 out of 5 stars on Google reviews and have been featured in the Boston Globe, Patriot Ledger, The Today Show, Discover Magazine, Animal Planet, and National Geographic.
The Odd Pet Vet is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 AM to 3 PM, by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call us at (781) 682-4878. Due to Covid, our hours may vary. Please call us for the most up-to-date information. If you would like to cancel your appointment please give us 24 hours notice or we will charge a $35 cancellation fee, This will help us accommodate more emergency situations. Please let us know when you make your appointment if your animal is poisonous or venomous!

All profits go directly to wildlife care and education at NEWC. We also support the education of future veterinarians and bio-engineers through our veterinary internship program.
Our clients come from Greater Boston, the South Shore, North Shore, and even outside of Massachusetts to keep their exotic and non-traditional pets and animals healthy and happy.
ODD PET VET FUN FACTS: Our current farthest away client lives in South Carolina! Our farthest away ever patient – a mouse! – flew in from Bangkok, Thailand!

The Odd Pet Vet does not treat primates.
Our veterinarians will discuss specific questions regarding costs of complicated procedures and care your pet may require before treatment.

Who are the veterinarians at The Odd Pet Vet?
Our veterinarians including Dr. Mertz and our veterinary technicians work exclusively with exotic animals. They have a collective 50 years experience with 400 different species.
Dr. Greg Mertz
Dr. Mertz has been treating exotic and wildlife species for over 30 years. He is the director of medicine and programs at New England Wildlife Centers and founder of Odd Pet Vet. He is also the lead veterinarian for the Museum of Science Boston, Massachusetts Audubon’s Drumlin Farm, and Cape Wildlife Center.
Favorite Species: Boa constrictors and rats.
Dr. Seth Snow
Dr. Snow is pursuing his passion for conservation, non-traditional pets, and wildlife medicine at NEWC’s wildlife hospitals and The Odd Pet Vet. While attending veterinary school, he worked with an organization that researches and promotes the protection of sea turtles in the Caribbean.
Favorite Species: Sea turtles and whale sharks.
